I Got You Reno

Why are we here?

We are here to support families.

The scenarios are endless. Families today have many obstacles to overcome.  When the unthinkable happens from job loss, homelessness, addiction, domestic violence, eviction, illness and more, families have little to no support in setting up a new home after losing everything.  I Got You supports these families by freely giving and delivering, if needed, household goods and furniture.

Helping families set up their home provides a service that sets a family up for success.  If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, we are here to help.

How can you help?

We are accepting the following gently used and new items to help set up homes:

  • household furniture (Please note: we DO NOT accept the following items: China cabinets, Entertainment centers, Credenzas, Filing cabinets, office furniture, stuffed animals, clothing or any alcohol-related items (wine glasses, shot glasses, wine bottle openers, etc).  ).  Over-sized items will be addressed individually.
  • kitchen items
  • bedding - (Please notate what size bedding is if identifying tags have been removed or are unreadable)
  • bath items (shower curtains, waterproof liners, shower curtain rods, rings/hooks for the shower curtain, towels, bath mats, toothbrush holders, hand soap dispensers or soap dishes, toilet paper and boxes of tissues, etc.)
  • lamps - (both floor and table)
  • decorative items
  • unexpired and unopened, non-perishable food
  • cleaning tools and supplies (broom, mop, dustpan, vacuum, Swiffer's, buckets, cleaning cloths, cleaning products, etc. We do accept partially used/open items)
  • hygiene & personal care items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, mouthwash, dental floss, new hairbrushes and combs, feminine products, shaving items, etc.)
  • laundry supplies (hangers, laundry baskets, hampers, detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, bleach, etc.  We do accept partially used/open items)
  • household products, etc. (paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, aluminum foil, food storage containers and baggies, etc. We do accept partially used/open items)
  • infant & toddler "gear": furniture, new diapers & wipes, toddler beds, mattresses, crib bedding, high chairs, booster seats, changing tables, baby blankets, bibs, clothes, changing table pads, tummy time mats, toys, toys boxes, ride-on toys, etc
  • cribs: we only accept cribs that are less than 5 years old because of changing safety regulations AND the original manufacturer’s serial number and date manufactured sticker must be intact and readable.
  • gift cards (to purchase basic and emergency items needed for recipients such as perishable food, diapers, infant formula, light bulbs, hygiene items and personal care products, etc.

All donated items are distributed to community members for FREE. This donation is greatly appreciated and will improve the life of another.

❤️Donation rule of thumb: Out of respect for your community and the future recipients of your donations, please only donate items nice enough to lend to a friend.  Everyone deserves good condition, clean things.  Please DO NOT donate ripped, dirty, stained or smelly items or those with broken zippers, in need of repair, etc. Please freshly launder and/or dry clean clothing and bedding before donating. The recipients will be so grateful.  ❤

We reserve the right to decline any donation that smells of smoke, has animal hair on it, is broken or in a state of disrepair.

The driver picking up the donation or the person accepting a drop-off donation has the authority to make a final decision whether a donation will be accepted or not.

Who do we help?

We help those in need and do not have income guidelines because everyone needs help once in a while.  We work closely with Federal, State, County, and City agencies, Washoe County School District, Family Resource Centers, rehabilitation centers and partner with churches. We welcome collaboration with other non-profits and Community Based Organizations.

There can never be too many people helping those in need: the more positivity, the more productivity will ensue.

How do we Help?

Families in Transition

At I Got You Reno, we believe that every family deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home.

Families in transition often need extra support as they work toward stability — and that’s where we come in.  We provide essential household items and furniture to individuals and families rebuilding their lives. All items are completely free, and when volunteers are available, we also deliver them directly to the families we serve.

Please note: We are a completely volunteer-run organization, and deliveries depend on volunteer availability.

What We Don’t Provide

We focus on furniture and household goods only.

We do not provide:

  • Food
  • Hygiene items
  • Clothing
  • Cleaning products
  • Diapers

For help with those needs, please visit our [Resource Page] to find partner organizations that can assist.
